Changing the z value for the projector does not create a projector keyframe

Description

Creating keyframes in the compositor: When I change the z value in the
projector's parameter window (press "?" to show it), no keyframe is shown on the
timeline.

How to reproduce:

Load a video clip
Toggle "generate keyframes while tweaking" (key-shaped button)
In the compositor, toggle "adjust projector automation"
Toggle the "?" button, to show the projector parameter dialog.
Change the z value in the projector parameter dialog

With "generate keyframes while tweaking", any changes in the projector parameter
dialog should create a projector keyframe. But that only happens when I change
the x and y parameters, not the z.

  • summary changed from Changing the z value for the projector will not create a visible key frame. to Changing the z value for the projector does not create a projector keyframe

Changing the z value for the projector does not create a projector keyframe, it
creates a "projector zoom" keyframe. Even though the z value is grouped in the
same dialog.
The z value is called "projector zoom" in the view menu, and is considered a
different keyframe. If I enable View->projector zoom, the z changes become
visible as a dot on the red projector zoom automation line.

This breaks the principle of least surprise. The projector automation

parameter dialog ought to have separator between the z and the x and y, and
label the z input "zoom".

Totaly nasty workaround:

copy the keyframe. Right click on the plugin you want to paste it to... move it
up/down till it is in the position of the keyframe you wanted to copy... paste
the keyframe

the last comment was meant for bug 47... my mistake

one way of solving this would be to have a button for "create camera keyframe"
inside the toolwindow for camera and projector... pressing the button would
create both keyframmes

I have a proposal:

Option under user interface menu, to connect zoom and position keyframes of
camera and projector. unfortunately it is a lot of work to take care of all the
possible cases.
