error at importing cheap avi file

Reported by: igzebedze@… Owned by: cinelerra@…
Priority: critical Milestone:
Component: File Loading Version: 1.2.1
Severity: normal Keywords:
Cc: cinelerra@…

Description

here is a sample avi, like my camera produces. when i try to import it to
cinelerra, it endlessly writes out:

Huffman table 0x00 was not defined

i use the very latest from apt repository, dpkg -l writes out:

ii cinelerra 1.2.2-1cvs2005 An audio/video authoring tool

i should note, that about a year ago, i was able to produce a short movie with
exactly same type of files (from the same camera).

  • priority set to Critical

we found out that this is not a regression, since a year ago he actually
converted the movie first.

I have the same problem. When I upload my videos from my digital camera, the
fourcc is "mjpg". Cinelerra can load these into the resources, but cannot
thumbnail them or play them in the viewer. Changing the fourcc (in hexedit) to
"MJPG" enables it to grab a thumbnail, index it (apparently, because it gets the
correct length in the viewer), correctly identify the format (it concurs with
tcprobe)...but no video is available, and, as above, it complains about Huffman
tables being not defined.

I can send you a small vid if you would like for testing purposes.
